True to form, Hilton Hotels and Resorts, which includes DoubleTree, Conrad and Waldorf Astoria properties, have today launched their usual Summer sale with exclusive early access for Hilton Honors members. This deal is offering 25% off weekend stays in the UK and Europe.

This sale will complement the 25% off Summer sale for hotels in the Middle East and Africa which launched last month. Given how expensive hotels can get over the summer period, any sale that allows you to lock in hotels for the summer always presents an opportunity for excellent savings.

How good are the savings?

I decided to take a closer look at some of the hotels included in this offer for a better idea of exactly how much could be saved by booking during this sale. I am naturally suspicious of headline sale percentages and like to actually see the savings for myself before getting too excited.

Conrad Algarve

I priced up a 4-night stay at the gorgeous Conrad Algarve, Portugal in August:

As you can see the sale price per night for the cheapest room on those dates is £369. The regular price would be £473 per night.

Total for the stay including taxes and charges:

Regular price: £1,890

Summer Sale price: £1,476

So by taking advantage of this summer promotion, you would be saving more than £400 – a terrific saving!

Waldorf Astoria Trianon Palace Versailles, France

I also priced up a 3-night stay in Paris during July:

As you can see the price per night in the sale is £164 for the base level room on those dates. The regular price would be £210 per night.

Total for the stay including taxes and charges:

Regular price: £641

Summer Sale price: £504

Resulting in a total saving of roughly £140 – not too shabby!

Hilton Molino Stucky, Venice

I priced up a stay at the Hilton Molino Stucky in Venice for a 3-night stay at the end of August – usually a popular time:

As you can see the price per night in the sale is £177 for the base level room on those dates. The regular price would be £226 per night.

Total for the stay including taxes and charges:

Summer Sale price: £559

By booking during this summer sale, you would be saving roughly £150 – a very decent saving!

How to book

The dedicated sale page on the Hilton website is here.

There are a few important things to be aware of with this sale:

  • Bookings must be made between 13th and 19th June 2017
  • Bookings are prepaid and non-refundable – Remember to compare the small print on the various rates. There will usually be discrepancies with what is included in the different rates
  •  Stays must on weekends between 16th June and 8th October 2017 – Although this is in the T&C’s, in practice some hotels will make sale rates available on weekdays as well. For example, I was successfully able to include a Monday night in my Algarve example and a Thursday night in my Paris example both at sale prices.
In other words, don’t automatically assume this sale isn’t of use to you if you need to include some weeknights in your stay. It’s always worth doing a quick search first!
  • This sale is already open to Hilton Honors members and you must be a member at the time of booking – You can join the program for free via this link here.

Verdict

There is the potential for excellent savings to be had with the Hilton Summer Sale. Unlike some hotel chains which advertise high sale percentages yet the discounts are nowhere like that when you actually search, this one seems to be doing what it says on the tin.

If you were waiting for an incentive to get a move on with organising your summer plans, this sale is definitely worth a look.
