Yesterday morning I was doing my daily sweep of our American Express cards to check for any new Amex Offers that had appeared overnight.

As I loaded my wife’s British Airways American Express Premium Plus card, I noticed an interesting new bonus Avios offer was available:

500 bonus Avios at Tesco with Amex

So all you are required to do is spend £10+ at Tesco before 3rd December 2017 to receive 500 bonus Avios.

While not the largest amount in the world (*studiously avoids any references to “every little helps”) this Amex Offer caught my attention for two reasons:

For starters, I don’t remember seeing Tesco appear in any form of Amex Offer before. Secondly, the amount required to hit the bonus is unusually low. Recent Amazon/Everyday Spending (Ocado, Post Office, WH Smith etc) offers have required £20-£25 worth of spending to trigger a bonus.

Am I eligible for this offer?

Amex hasn’t emailed eligible members with details of this offer but to be honest they don’t tend to do that for the majority of offers. That being the case, the way to check if you were targeted is log-in to your online account and click the Offers tab that is positioned just above the list of recent transactions.

Based on my own checks of our various Amex cards, it seems this offer is only appearing on British Airways American Express cards. If you have a BA Amex card and haven’t been targeted or have a different Amex card, try contacting Amex via live chat or giving them a ring and seeing if they will add it manually. I have had a fair amount of success with this in the past, although it has depended on the nature of the offer.

Verdict

This offer is available to the first 50,000 Cardmembers who save this offer. As Amex Offers go, that is quite a large amount of registrations. I get the feeling that Tesco/Amex may be testing the waters with this one.
Drop me a line at tricksofthetrade@xexec.com if you have this offer appear on any Amex cards other than the BA ones or if you successfully manage to have it manually added to your card(s).
