Starwood Hotels and Resorts (which includes St Regis, Luxury Collection, W and Sheraton hotels etc) are quietly running an impressive promotion that looks to be offering genuine savings on hotel stays of 2 nights or more. The offer itself is as follows:
Book two or more consecutive nights at any SPG-participating hotels and resorts and receive 40% off every 2nd night.
How good is this offer in practice?
Regular readers will know that I am always wary of big headline discounts being touted by companies.
I ran several searches to see just how good this discount really is – and I was impressed.
Here is a 2-night stay at the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane in December:
As you can see from the screenshot above, applying this offer would save you roughly £170 on just a 2-night stay!
The great thing about this offer is that it isn’t just limited to a 2-night stay. It is valid every second night for the duration of your stay.
Here is a 4-night stay at the SLS Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Beverly Hills over Christmas:
As you can see, the 40% off promotion would save you $172 per night, with a total saving of $344.
I also noted that this offer is applicable to higher room categories in addition to entry-level rooms. This is a good opportunity to treat yourself to a nice executive room/suite while still not exceeding the amount you had planned to spend initially.

There are a number of things to be aware of:

- Free night awards cannot be redeemed for the first night.

Verdict
This is an excellent promotion. It is a great chance to pick up a substantial discount at normally expensive properties such as the Gritti Palace in Venice, The St Regis Aspen Resort or the Prince de Galles in Paris for example.
I was pleasantly surprised to find many of the participating hotels also offering the 40% discount over the Christmas and New Year period. Hotels have a nasty habit of blocking (m)any promotional offers over the festive season in the hope of being able to fill rooms at full price.
If you haven’t yet firmed up your winter travel plans, this deal is well worth your attention.
