Why airports have carpet

This wasn’t something I’d ever given a great deal of thought. But come to think of it, it’s rather bizarre. Logically, it would make sense for airports to have hard flooring even simply from a cleaning perspective. It turns out that that airport carpet is quite a deliberate choice.
