A number of months ago, Tesco mercifully decided to rename its PayQwiq app – dubbing it Pay+.
I first covered this app back when they were offering 500 bonus Clubcard points for giving it a go. I then gave it another mention in October last year, when it was announced that you could earn bonus Clubcard points on your regular shopping until mid-January 2018, just by using the app.
That offer has now been extended and I thought it was worth flagging up again.
A quick recap on what Pay+ does:
Essentially, Pay+ is a way of simplifying the process at the Tesco checkout and saves you fishing for your Clubcard and payment card while trying not to hold up the whole shop behind you. It allows you to add your debit/credit cards as well as your Clubcard details.
You simply scan the code shown within the Pay+ app at the till which allows you to both pay and collect Clubcard points in one shot.
New incentive
While initially this was only due to run for another couple of weeks, Pay+ have now extended their current offer aimed at persuading people to use the app on a regular basis.
You will receive 1 additional Clubcard point for every £4 spent until 28th February 2018.
Remember that if converting to airline miles, 1 Clubcard point is worth:
- 2.5 Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles or
- 2.4 British Airways Avios
This offer applies to spend at Tesco and Tesco Petrol Filling Stations. Extra points can take up to 5 days to appear on your balance. Looking back at my account, it seems these are posting within 48-72 hours of transactions being made.
This will also double up with any other Clubcard promotions. If you have the Tesco Premium Credit card or Debit card, for example, you ordinarily would earn 1 Clubcard point per £1 spent at Tesco/Tesco filling stations.
However, if you were to link one of those cards to the Pay+ app you would be earning an excellent 9 Clubcard points per £4 for the duration of the promotion.
(1 Clubcard point per £1 for spending on the Premium Credit Card + ordinary 1 point per £1 for scanning your Clubcard + 1 promotional point per £4 spent = 9 Clubcard points per £4).

There is NO separate registration required for this offer, bonus points will be calculated and added automatically.

File this under easy points.
There is no reason not to use the Pay+ app at least for the duration of the promotional period to earn some extra points. I’ve been using the Pay+ app for the majority of my Tesco transactions during this promotion and the good news is that the correct amount of points seem to be posting without issues.
Now, all we need is a bonus points offer on Gift Cards to return…..
