Flash Hilton sale: Up to 35% off bookings worldwide

Hilton Hotels and Resorts (DoubleTree, Hilton, Conrad and Waldorf Astoria properties etc) have today launched a flash ‘See the World’ sale with even higher discounts available for members of their Hilton Honors loyalty scheme (free to join).
 
Somewhat confusingly, this sale covers three different regions, with the discounts and details varying accordingly.

 

The headline discounts are as follows:

The Americas – Up to 20% off
Europe, Middle East and Africa – Up to 25% off
Southeast Asia and Australasia – Up to 35% off

How good are the savings?

I decided to take a closer look at some of the hotels included in this offer for a better idea of how much could be saved by booking during this sale. I’m naturally suspicious of headline sale percentages and like to evaluate the savings for myself before drawing any conclusions.

Bear in mind that these sale prices are offering discounts off the Best Available Rate which is a generally more expensive, flexible rate. If you like to make flexible hotel bookings, great. If you’d be happy making non-refundable bookings then you need to remember that your actual saving is probably a bit lower than the headline discount.

New York Hilton Midtown

I ran a quick search for a 2-night stay in New York in April:

As you can see the sale price for the cheapest room on my dates is £175 per night. The regular price would be £210 per night.

Approximate total for the stay including taxes and charges:

Regular price: £525

‘See the World’ sale price: £445 

By taking advantage of this sale, you’d save a tidy £80 – decent enough.

Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah

I then had a look at prices for a long weekend in Dubai:

As you can see, the price in the sale is £279 per night on the dates. I’ve selected. The regular price would be £354 per night.

Approximate total for the stay including taxes and charges:

Regular price: £1,791

‘See the World’ sale price: £1,417

Resulting in a total saving of roughly £374 – a fantastic deal!

Conrad Koh Samui

Finally, I priced up a 7-night stay at the Conrad Koh Samui:

As you can see the sale price is £337 per night on those dates. The regular price would be £458 per night.

Approximate total for the stay including taxes and charges:

Regular price: £3,790

‘See the World’ sale price: £2,793

Booking using this offer would save you just shy of £1,000 – an amazing saving!

How to book

There are are several other things to be aware of, not least because there are essentially three separate sale campaigns running.

Americas sale:

  • Valid for stays booked between 12:01am Eastern Standard Time, March 13, 2018, and 11:59pm Eastern Standard Time, March 19, 2018
  • Completed between the periods of March 25, 2018, to September 9, 2018.
  • 3-day advance purchase required
  • Bookings are prepaid and non-refundable. This is typical in these sorts of sales.
  • Participating hotels, except Conrad and Waldorf Astoria hotels, are offering a 15% off the best available rate for Non-Hilton Honors members and 20% off the best available rate for Hilton Honors Members.
  • Conrad and Waldorf Astoria hotels are offering a 10% off the best available rate for Non-Hilton Honors members and 15% off the best available rate for Hilton Honors Members.

Europe, Middle East and Africa sale:

  • Stays booked between March 13, 2018, and 23:59 on March 19, 2018
  • Completed on weekends between March 16, 2018, and August 31, 2018, except as indicated below.

  • The Flash Sale Hilton Honors member rates are an additional 5% off of the Best Available Rate and the Best Available Bed and Breakfast rate (indicated above) i.e up to 25% off for participating hotels as outlined above.

Southeast Asia and Australasia sale:

  • Discount is 25% off Flexible Rate (BAR) or Bed and Breakfast Rate (B&B) across all participating properties. Hilton Honors members will receive an additional 10% off BAR and/or B&B. Hilton Honors Membership is required to book the Hilton Honors Members rate.
  • Bookings are prepaid and non-refundable

Verdict

There’s potential for excellent value with the See the World sale.

While you need to watch out for the hotels that have slyly upped their prices prior to this sale, from my brief searches there also seem to be genuine savings available.
