British Airways have confirmed that they’ve brought back their Kids fly free promotion for Summer 2018.

This deal allows two children (under 12) to fly for free when accompanied by a full paying adult to select destinations.

This offer is valid on flights departing London Heathrow to:

  • Edinburgh
  • Aberdeen
  • Glasgow
  • Leeds Bradford
  • Newcastle
  • Belfast

Readers with particularly good memories will spot that Billund and Inverness – which featured on last year’s list – are not included this time around. They have been replaced with Aberdeen and Glasgow.

The offer runs from the 1st June until 5th November 2018.

How to book

Visit as normal and search for any of the above destinations. The price you see will automatically reflect the promotion and there will be no charge for the children on your booking.

I searched for a quick weekend break to Edinburgh for a family of four in July:

As you can see there is no charge for the two children on the booking whatsoever. Free actually does mean free – with no taxes or any other surcharges to pay.

And you can eat for free too – well your kids can…

As I was putting together this article, I came across this piece from Mommy Points noting that there’s an additional deal running at Heathrow this summer. You can get a free children’s meal with each adult main course purchased from the main menu.

Anything else I should know?

There are a couple of things to be aware of:

  • Kids fly free applies to children who are under 12 at the start of the journey
  • Kids must be accompanied by an adult, and up to two kids can fly for free with each fare-paying adult
  • The offer is valid for one-way and return tickets
  • Flights must be booked by 13th May, 2018
  • Travel must be taken between June 1, 2018 and November 5, 2018.

Flights during the summer months can be ridiculously expensive, so well done to BA for bringing the Kids fly free offer back and opening up some interesting opportunities for families. It’s a welcome change to see a promotion ‘doing what it says on the tin’ with no hidden catches!

If you’re flying from Heathrow this summer – regardless of the destination – you should also bear in mind the ‘kids eat free’ offer which should make for some real savings.
