British Airways has brought back their double Avios offer for all flights until the end of 2018.

This promotion allows you to collect double base Avios on every British Airways flight, across all routes and all cabins.

Flights on American Airlines, Finnair and Iberia between Europe and North America with a BA flight number, are also eligible.

You MUST register via this link to be eligible for this offer.

Only bookings made after registering are eligible for double Avios which will frustrate those who booked flights in the BA sale which ended earlier this week.

How to register

The registration page can be found here.

Note that:

  • You can register, book and fly up to (and including) 31 December 2018.
  • Double Avios will be awarded on the first 10 flight sectors.
  • Double Avios Points are available on all tickets except reward flights.

Full promotional T&Cs are available at the bottom of this page.

Maximising the offer

If you have quite a bit of travel coming up, you have some calculations to make. Remember that you’ll only earn double Avios on your first ten sectors after registering.

Say you have several short-haul economy trips to Europe followed by various long-haul flights to the US or Asia in Club World cover the next few months. You might be better off leaving your BA number off the short-haul bookings (unless you’re chasing tier points of course) to avoid exceeding your ‘ten sectors allowance’ too early on. Double Avios is clearly going to be more valuable on long-haul business class flights rather than short-haul economy trips.

Double OnBusiness points available too

We don’t cover the British Airways OnBusiness program an awful lot on Tricks of the Trade. But if you are a member, it’s worth noting that BA has launched a promotion double OnBusiness points until the end of 2018.

If you happen to be self-employed you can do very nicely out of this offer indeed…

As with the regular double Avios offer, double OnBusiness points are available on your first ten flights after registering.

Verdict

It’s good to see this offer make a return and a couple of months earlier in the year than we have been used to seeing it too. Seems efforts to generate some customer goodwill following recent events are in full swing…

I’d recommend taking 30 seconds to register now even if you have no immediate travel plans. The promotion runs for a full three months and you never know what may come up in the interim.
