New Virgin Atlantic/easyJet partnership announced

easyJet has announced that Virgin Atlantic has become the latest airline to join its Worldwide by easyJet program.

This is designed to offer seamless connections for easyJet and Virgin passengers travelling through Gatwick Airport.

What is Worldwide by easyJet?

I’ll admit I’d not really heard much about Worldwide by easyJet before. This program launched late last year. Existing airline partners include Norwegian Air, Thomas Cook and WestJet. Singapore Airlines will be a high profile addition in the coming months.

This partnership allows you to search and book to a far greater range of destinations on the easyJet website. Searching for flights from Paris to Orlando, for example, will redirect you to a dedicated Worldwide by easyJet booking site where you can book Paris-London on easyJet and London (Gatwick) to Orlando on Virgin Atlantic in one booking.

The service aims to make travel “seamless” although I note you still have to collect and recheck your luggage. There is also a 2.5-hour Minimum Connection Time with the service utilising the GatwickConnects service.

Excellent new Amex/Selfridges offer

No one likes paying credit card annual fees, but there are certain things that do help take the sting out it. Many card companies and banks now offer ‘exclusive’ cardmember offers. Utilising these can be a good way of making back annual fees in terms of real cash savings.

American Express is no exception and I find their Amex Offers a good way of justifying and indeed reducing the annual fees that I pay on my cards.

However, in recent months the quality/quantity of Amex Offers appearing on my cards has dropped considerably, especially on my Starwood and British Airways Premium Plus cards. Which is why I was pleasantly surprised to see this offer from Selfridges appear earlier this week.

• Valid until 17th November 2018
• Available to the first 12,000 cardmembers to save the offer.

This offer has appeared on all of our cards, including supplementary cards which is a welcome change.

For those who haven’t utilised Amex Offers before, you can view and save Amex Offers to your cards via the Offers section within your online account or via the Amex app.

It’s worth taking two minutes to check if you have the offer showing on your card(s) – it may prove useful especially as we head towards Christmas.
