IHG (Intercontinental, Kimpton, Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza etc) offers special discounted rates for European weekend stays, in a partnership with MasterCard.
This rate offers 20-30% off the Best Flexible Rate and still allows you to earn your usual elite night credits and points.
I last wrote about this deal back in March 2017 but stumbled across it again last week and was pleased to discover that this offer has been extended once more and is now valid for travel through the whole of 2019.

There are two different strands to this offer:
- 30% off at Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn Express and Staybridge Suites.
- 20% off + breakfast at InterContinental Hotels & Resorts and Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants.
How decent are the savings?
I took a look at rates at the Crowne Plaza, Barcelona for a two-night weekend stay in March 2019:
As you can see, you’d save an easy €25 per night compared to the cheapest Advance Saver Member Rate (or €44 off the Best Flexible Rate).
I then ran a search for a three-night stay at the InterContinental Estoril in August 2019:
In this example, you’d save €117 over the three nights compared to the cheapest Advance Saver Member Rate (or €273 off the Best Flexible Rate).
How to book

Bear in mind:
- Stays must be booked 21 days in advance
- Valid on Friday/Saturday/Sunday nights, but some limited midweek availability
- Like Advanced Purchase prices, these promotional rates are prepaid and non-refundable
- You presumably should have a Mastercard to use these rates but you are not required to pay with it.
- Valid for stays up until 31st December 2019
- The instructions on the IHG website state that you should fill out and print this voucher to present at check-in. Whether you will actually be asked for this though is anyone’s guess.

Verdict
As regularly available discounts go, this offer is a good one in the sense that it is bookable all the way through until the end of March 2019.
Another great way to utilise this deal would be to combine it with one of IHG’s Accelerate promotions. The Accelerate promotions offer large amounts of bonus IHG points for completing a series of personalized stay targets. Getting an additional 20%-30% off using this Mastercard promo is the perfect sweetener to make your Accelerate target even more achievable.
